Hi, I’m Elizabeth, a psychology-trained educator with a big heart, a calm presence, and a deep understanding of how students learn best.

I’ve spent over 3 years working inside the education system, supporting students with diverse learning needs, from ADHD and anxiety to reading challenges, focus struggles, and emotional regulation. I hold an Honours degree in Psychology, I’m pursuing graduate training in Educational Counselling, and I bring 5+ years of experience as a trauma-aware yoga teacher.

What does that mean for your child?
It means I see them as a whole person, not just a student.
We can focus on literacy, writing, and executive skills — but we’ll also work on confidence, nervous system regulation, and mindset. Because learning happens best when a child feels safe, understood, and capable.

My Story

Elizabeth Hanson, B.Sc.

I am a psychology and counselling student with a passion for helping children build resilience, confidence, and strong learning foundations. Having overcome my own childhood learning challenges, I understand the difference a supportive guide can make.

I discovered my love of teaching early literacy skills while working as an Education Assistant. With over five years of experience working with children, I’ve learned that I am most effective when supporting learners one-on-one or in small groups, helping them grow both academically and emotionally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology
  • Focus in developmental and positive psychology
  • Experience in teaching, coaching, and play-based learning
  • Training in emotional regulation and child development
  • Background supporting diverse learning needs

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe behaviour is communication—not a problem to be fixed. My tutoring is grounded in care, attunement, and curiosity. When children feel emotionally safe, they learn more easily, build confidence, and take healthy academic risks.

Many students feel overwhelmed in traditional classrooms, which can impact self-esteem and motivation. By pairing strong literacy instruction with social–emotional support, I help kids regain confidence and experience more success at school.

Let's Talk!

If your child is struggling with reading, writing, focus, or confidence, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

When children feel ashamed of their challenges, they often shut down. Classrooms are busy, and teachers can’t always provide the individualized support some students need. When a child builds confidence and learns simple regulation strategies, they participate more fully and get far more from their school day. The sooner we support both skill development and emotional resilience, the better.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation to learn more about your child’s needs and see if we’re a good fit.

I look forward to connecting with you.
